– ACTIVITIES –
The team is taught how to safely hoist the headsails having been organized into positions with a team leader. As hoisting these sails is an impossible task on one’s own, participants learn the importance of working together as a team. A group is stronger and can achieve things an individual can’t!
Escape from a human knot and learn how to tie a bowline (the most useful safety knot onboard a vessel), escaping from a human knot is a physical ice-breaker designed to break down barriers between team members which in turn builds rapport. The small task of tying a knot may seem trivial; but it’s an essential skill in sailing that other team members rely on being done promptly and properly.
Every team member is encouraged to scale the mast to perform a mini-challenge involving filling buckets situated half way up at 11m above deck level. This challenge is not only a team challenge but also a personal one.
