The Royal Albatross started her life in Chicago, cruising the Great Lakes prior to the beginning of an epic journey that brought her over 15,000 kilometres from the moderate climes of North America to the tropical waters of South East Asia.
Since arriving in Singapore, approximately 360,000 man hours have been invested re-designing and re-fitting Royal Albatross resulting in a sailing ship of unmatched quality and splendour. A ship designed to entertain and impress with 22 sails, over 650 square meters of canvas and over 60,000 RGB lights to set Royal Albatross’s mood for whatever the occasion requires.

Hello everyone, I’m not too sure about my past, but my mum consulted an animal communicator who shared some details about my previous life. They said I came from a backyard breeding situation in an HDB apartment, always surrounded by kittens and other cats. One day, my previous owner brought me and my food to the void deck downstairs – I started eating, and when I looked up, my owner was gone. I’m not sure how accurate this story is, but it feels about right.
What I do know is that I was lucky enough not to suffer from hunger or straying around. A kind soul found me and took me to the SPCA, where I stayed for three months after neutering me ☹️ and checking me over. They estimated my age to be around 5 years old and called me YAMI. Sadly, I was caged up all the time with messy fur, cloudy and painful eyes and a big notice was put on my cage that said, “AGGRESSIVE CAT – I BITE!”. Of course, I did! I was really grumpy as I didn’t know what the humans were going to do to me, especially with my eyes in such pain.
But then something incredible happened—one day a group of humans visited the SPCA and a British man felt a special connection with me. Out of all the cats there, he chose me and wanted to let me out of the cage! It was what humans call “love at first sight.” He didn’t take me home that day; but my dad could not stop thinking about me so he came back a few days later on 6 September 2023 and this time took me with him.
My life has never been the same since. My new Mum and Dad took me to their vet for a thorough checkup and instead of going back to the shelter, I moved aboard my Dad’s luxurious tall ship – the Royal Albatross.
Now, I go by the name Capt Willie and let’s get it right… I’m the boss of this ship! I love playing, sleeping, eating, soaking up all the human attention and the crew do exactly what I say 😀 The only thing I am a bit unsure of, are the doggies that are allowed onboard; but so long as they keep their distance I am happy to share my beautiful home.
